January of 2018 we were contacted by The American Chemical Society to incorporate a fitness program into their facility. They were already engaged in wellness activities issued through their insurance company but wanted to have more employee participation. At this particular location there are roughly 600 employees.
Our first consultation consisted of our representatives visiting the facility to see the layout of the gym and meet the building directors. After, we worked with the wellness team to distribute a survey to determine the best classes and times to offer the facility.
In April of 2018 we started to offer bootcamp and yoga to the employees at ACS with a wonderful attendance and retention rate. In July of 2018 we added two Zumba classes and another yoga class to the offering, from much request of the employees.
Since, employees have commented on better range of motion from our morning “Stretch and Restore” yoga class. Participants in the bi weekly bootcamp have experienced improved strength, mobility and energy in the year since the classes have been offered. Those attending weekly Zumba love the cardio that it offers in the middle of the day.
We were approved to do a one month fitness challenge and in just 4 weeks the participants who attend over 4 of the 6 fitness classes lost an average of 6 pounds and 7% body fat. We gave participants body composition testing to determine these result. Impressed with the results we were approved to continue the challenge as an ongoing wellness incentive.
The response to the classes have been astounding, having employees attend classes regular, even coming in on their telework days to join class.
